Ward 3 ㆍNew Tecumseth

Tony Phekoo

A Strong, Practical Voice for Ward 3

| "I'm honored to have the support of two former mayors"

My name is Tony Phekoo and I’m running for Councillor to make sure we grow the right way — protecting what makes our community special while planning responsibly for the future

Building a Stronger, Safer, and More Livable New Tecumseth

New Tecumseth is a community built on connection, hard work, and shared values. It’s a place where families put down roots, local businesses grow, and neighbours support one another. As our town continues to grow and evolve, we need leadership that listens, plans responsibly, reflective of the community and puts residents first.

"Planning Smart. Growing Strong."

My Priorities

🏗️

Infrastructure First

Growth should never outpace our roads, healthcare access, and essential services. I will push for development that only moves forward when our infrastructure is ready.

📐

Manage Growth Responsibly

We need smart, balanced planning—not unchecked expansion. I will advocate for growth that fits our community and protects our quality of life.

🌿

Protect Rural & Community Character

Ward 3 is unique. From rural properties to established neighborhoods, I will work to preserve the character and environment that residents value.

⚖️

Fairness & Accountability

Residents deserve transparency and a strong voice at council. I will listen, respond, and ensure your concerns are represented.

Respect for Taxpayers

You should see real value for your tax dollars. I support responsible budgeting and ensuring new development contributes its fair share.

About Tony Phekoo

My name is Tony Phekoo, and I’m proud to be running for Councillor for Ward 3. New Tecumseth has been my home for two decades, and it’s where my wife and I have raised our three wonderful daughters. My academic qualifications include a Master’s degree in Education, Training, and Development, as well as an Honours Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Economics. My professional career has taken me through the federal, provincial, and municipal public sectors, as well as banking, finance, and now my work as a Mortgage Broker. These experiences have shown me how important accessible and responsive local government truly is.I’m running because I believe residents deserve a council that listens, collaborates, and acts responsibly. My focus is on the issues that matter most: responsible stewardship of tax dollars, safer roads, thoughtful growth and development, better public transit, and more services for seniors and youth. I’ve always been active in charitable and nonprofit work, and I’m ready to bring that same dedication to the council table.

WARD 3 RESIDENTS. EXERCISE YOUR RIGHT TO VOTE!

"Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter." — Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Dr. King’s enduring message is a reminder that when good people remain silent, it allows others to decide our future. With new provincial mandates on the horizon, New Tecumseth is at a major turning point—and Ward 3 needs your voice. These words remind us of the necessity to stand up for our values and speak out on important issues. I strongly encourage the residents of Ward 3 to make their voices heard at the ballot box.Municipal voter turnout has historically been very low. The future depends on concerned citizens taking an active role in this sacred democratic process. Every vote has power; when turnout is low, that power is surrendered. When citizens stay home, decisions about our tax rates, parks, schools, and local infrastructure are left to a small minority. In short, voting is more than a civic duty—it puts power in your hands. It is a powerful act of collective self-determination and shared responsibility. Casting your vote is your most direct way to hold leadership accountable and build a stronger Alliston for our families.Don't remain silent on the issues that matter to you.Exercise your democratic right—cast your vote in this election!
